Sgian Dubh incl. sheath
Sgian Dubh is a small hand-forged Scottish knife with an ornate wooden handle. The name comes from the Gaelic sgian dubh meaning "black knife", where "black" can refer to the usual color of the knife's handle. It is also suggested that "negro" means secret or hidden, as in the word blackmail. This builds on the stories and theories surrounding the origin of the knife and the meaning of "Dubh" in Gaelic, in particular those associated with the Highland custom of depositing weapons at the entrance of a house before entering as a guest. Hidden in the hose or boot, the sgian dubh would offer an element of defense or surprise if employed in attack.Details- Total length: approx. 17 cm- Blade length: approx. 8 cm- Maximum width: approx. 2.5 cm- Weight: approx. 200 g
