Italo-Corinthian helmet, steel
The Corinthian helmet originated in ancient Greece and took its name from the city-state of Corinth. It was a helmet made of bronze that in its last styles covered the entire head and neck, with openings for the eyes and mouth. A large curved projection protected the nape of the neck.
Out of combat, a Greek hoplite wore the helmet tilted for comfort. This practice resulted in a number of different designs in Italy, where the cracks were almost closed. Although the classic Corinthian helmet was out of use among the Greeks in favor of the more open ones, the Italian-Corinthian designs remained in use until the first century AD.

It was the favorite helmet of most of the heavy armor lancers of the Greek Hoplites during the archaic period and the beginning of the classical period, and even the famous Athenian leader, Pericles, was depicted wearing it. Later, it gave way to lighter forms of helmets that prevented less the sighting and hearing of hoplite, but continued to be worn in a slightly modified way by the Italians as the "Italian-Corinthian" helmet until the rise of the Roman Empire.
Our Corinthian helmet is lined with a comfortable and secure leather lining. A circumference of approx. 68 cm makes almost all head sizes fit. And a sturdy chin strap closed with a beautiful buckle will help keep your helmet in place throughout your battle.
