Historical Impression Cruz Santiago
The Cross of Calatrava is a symbol used by the Order of Calatrava and the Order of Montesa (this one in black), as well as by the Order of Preachers. It consists of a Greek cross (formerly Latin) with four equal arms, gules and lysed   flower (with fleurs de lis at the ends of the arms). This cross appears on numerous shields and city flags   in the Calatrava Field.In the Order of Calatrava, it was black until the 15th century, when it was red.

This replica follows the helmet of Sir Richard Pembridge's original, displayed at the Royal Scottish Museum in Edinburgh. The "Great Helmet" was often worn on a smaller, lighter helmet (e.g., a secret helmet).

These helmets were common throughout Europe in the Middle Ages, and numerous contemporary, miniature and original images found in Germany, Flanders, England, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, etc. prove the popularity of this type of helmet. They were used during the famous battles. crecy (1346) and Poitiers (1356).
