Knight's Sword of the River Witham with Scabbard, thirteenth century
This beautiful one-handed sword is based on an original from the collection of the British Museum in London. The armament sword, dating to the thirteenth century, was found in the River Witham near Lincoln, England, in 1825. A distinctive feature of this sword is the inscription "+NDXOXCHWDRGHDXORVI+" inlaid with gold thread. Despite numerous speculations and attempts to decipher it, the meaning of the supposedly Latin acronym remains unclear to this day.The sword has a broad, double-edged blade with unsharp edges. Two fullers run almost the entire length of it. Like the original, these are engraved with the inscription on one side and a sequence of symbols composed of crosses, crescents and stylized quatrefoils on the other. The crossguard and wheel pommel, which are riveted across the tang, are made of steel. The wooden handle is wrapped in brown leather straps. This frame sword comes complete with a wood and brown leather scabbard with steel body and throat and hinged suspension rings for a sword belt.Note that this medieval sword is not a battle-ready weapon. Viking Vestre Berg (Oslo) scabbard, Petersen O type, 10º C
This beautiful Viking Sword is based on an original sword that was part of the great tomb of Vestre Berg in Løiten/Løten, Norway. According to archaeological records, the grave was discovered in 1887 among some rocks during cleaning work. A distinctive feature of the original, which dates back to the tenth century, is the blade, which was presumably ritually bent into an "S" shape. It is not known if this practice was intended to symbolically "kill" the sword before it was buried, or if the purpose was to deter grave robbers. The sword, classified as Type O according to Petersen's Viking sword typology, is now in the collection of the Kulturhistorisk Museum (formerly Universitetets Oldsaksamling) in Oslo, Norway. The replica features a wide, double-edged blade with wide, fuller, and unsharp cutting edges. The grip consists of a handle wrapped in red leather, a short, slightly curved guard, and a generously sized five-lobed pommel. The bronze guard and pommel are engraved with the same patterns and motifs that adorn the original find. The sword comes complete with a red wood and leather scabbard fitted with a bronze throat and cape and a sword belt with bronze accessories.Note that this medieval sword is not a battle-ready weapon. It is designed as a collector's piece or decoration/display and is not suitable for combat reenactment. Sixteenth-Century Italian Cinquedea Short Sword
This Cinquedea , short sword or large dagger of Italian origin with a broad blade, belongs to the Royal Armouries . This design has a longer blade and dates from around 1500–1530.
Although the Cinquedea was often carried as a weapon by civilian personnel, and some were highly decorated, this design is relatively simple and functional, and could have been carried as a military weapon by an infantryman or gunner.
The impressively wide 66 cm blade hasa complex transition from three to two flutes, with a thin and conical cross-section distally, making it a very light and fast weapon for its size.
Our Cinquedea is a faithful replica of all aspects of this sword in terms of shape and specifications, the most interesting being the unique construction of the hilt. The ingenious and iconic design of the guard is made with various components welded together, just like the original. The base of the blade extends completely through the guard and is attached to it (see photos). The blade base and rivet heads are ground flush with the guard and the entire assembly is polished. This method offers exceptional strength and durability. The blade also features a full-profile tang, with scales on the wooden hilt and decorative brass rivets inlaid with filigree.
The scabbard is made with a wooden body and covered in leather. The tip is reinforced with a brass ferrule. At the mouth of the hem, the leather extends upwards and covers part of the guard.
Manufactured by Windlass Steelcrafts, the original can be seen in the Royal Armouries Collection, Number IX.148.
Includes Certificate of Authenticity.

Fourteenth-century hand-and-a-half sword
An impressive longsword or imposingly large hand-and-a-half sword, probably from the late fourteenth century.
The precise origin of this European sword is unknown, but based on the markings it is likely to be of German or possibly Italian origin . It arrived at the Alexandria Armory as a diplomatic gift, war booty or as an object of homage from the Kingdom of Cyprus to the Sultanate of Egypt, where it bore an inscription in Arabic. From then on it became part of at least one private collection, before being subsequently acquired by the Royal Armouries.
The sword of this great knight features a wide and powerful Oakeshott Type XVI blade of 97 cm. It is a rather heavy sword by the standards of the time, due to the length and width of the blade, but it is wonderfully balanced thanks to the distal cone, long hilt and large hilt. Swords similar to this one can be seen widely in late fourteenth- and early fifteenth-century art, including manuscripts and also on chivalric effigies and bronzes.
Swords like this were very popular at the time throughout Europe, from England to Italy, from Portugal to Poland, and appear in several contemporary fighting treatises such as the Fior di Battaglia de Fiore delli Liberi (1410). They were worn on foot and on horseback, with or without armor, with one or two hands. This example is an especially powerful slashing weapon and less specialized in thrusts than other longswords of the time.
The scabbard is made with a wooden body and covered in leather. The tip is reinforced with a brass ferrule. At the mouth of the hem, the leather extends upwards and covers part of the guard.
Our replica matches the original in every aspect of shape, measurement, and workmanship.
Manufactured by Windlass Steelcrafts, the original can be seen in the Royal Armouries Collection, Number IX.915.
Includes Certificate of Authenticity.

Late 15th Century Sword of Armor
Sword of the Royal Armoury #IX.1426 .
This knight's sword from the Royal Armouries Collection dates from the late fifteenth century and is possibly of English origin .
This type of sword is a hand-held weapon, of medium to high status, from the late fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries, and would have been used both with and without armor. It would have been a reserve weapon for horsemen, used in combat both on foot and on horseback.
This sword shares some obvious similarities with the Westminster Abbey sword , which has long been associated with Henry V (but is now believed to have come from the funerary remains of Henry VII). It also shares a number of similarities with other English church swords and with depictions of swords in English funerary effigies and bronzes. Due to the state of preservation, it has been suggested that this sword may have been taken from an English church monument in centuries past, where it was probably originally deposited in the late fifteenth century.
Our replica is accurate and faithful, of traditional manufacture, very similar to the original. It has a robust Oakeshott Type XVIII blade measuring just over 79 cm, cutting and pushing, long and curved blades with characteristic terminals, short handle and prominent solid wheel knob. The original has an unusual floral engraving at the base of the blade, which we do not reproduce, because unfortunately in the original it is too damaged to be reproduced with certainty.
The scabbard is made with a wooden body and covered in leather. The tip is reinforced with a brass ferrule . At the mouth of the hem, the leather extends upwards and covers part of the guard.
Manufactured by Windlass Steelcrafts, the original can be seen in the Royal Armouries Collection, Number IX.1426.
Includes Certificate of Authenticity.

The original sword once belonged to art collectors Frederic Spitzer and William Randolph Hearst before being acquired by the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds, UK, in 1952.This reconstruction features a double-edged blade approx. 88.5 cm long that tapers towards the tip. The hilt is made of wood and is adorned with two decorative brass rings, one in the center and the other just below the guard. Seneschal Sword
The original sword on which this replica is based is housed in the French Army Museum in Paris (Musée de l'Armée) and was made in Western Europe between 1300 and 1350, during a transitional period in medieval warfare when mail armor was still dominant but was gradually reinforced with additional plates.
Swords of this type were typically used in conjunction with a buckler or shield, making them versatile revolvers on both the battlefield and civilian level.
This particular sword is a faithful reproduction, carefully crafted to the exact measurements of the original. The leaf has a lenticular cross-section with a channel that ends at two-thirds of its length. The sword is classified as Type XIV due to its relatively short blade, with a sturdy, wide profile that tapers into a strong, sharp tip. This rigid blade is ideal for both cutting and stowing, while its considerable width makes it easy to lock and move the opponent's blade. While most Type XIV swords have curved guards and wheel knobs, this one features a straight guard (Oakeshott Style 2) and a spherical hilt topped by a protruding block. The added riveted button block has a practical function as it provides greater length to the tenon. This design feature makes it easy to disassemble or further modify the bar, ensuring its longevity and adaptability.
Its most distinctive feature is the brass button in the shape of a faceted sphere, with polyhedral faces. While it doesn't exactly fit a single type of Oakeshott, it is very similar to Type R pommels and is reminiscent of those seen later on basket-handled swords, such as those recovered from the sinking of the Mary Rose.
The sword is even more beautiful because of its details in its design. The combination of the red hilt and scabbard with the yellow brass hilt evokes the image of a high-ranking weapon, fit for a nobleman. This attention to detail extends to the brass cap, where the finial reflects the button, creating a cohesive and elegant design.
This is why he is called The Seneschal, le Sénéschal, (Chief or chief of the nobility, whom he ruled, especially in war or Butler of the Royal House) reflecting the authority and importance of a key figure in the medieval hierarchy.
