Brigandina was the most common form of protection among commoners and nobles. On a fifteenth-century battlefield you can find all styles of bandits, from the most common archers to the most expensive and luxurious of the high-ranking nobles. A versatile form of protection that offers excellent mobility, a historic brigandine is characterized by its ingenious construction. It consisted of hundreds of small plates under a sturdy tarp or leather cover that gave it an iconic look, with every row of plates appearing elegantly on the exterior.
