The Greek Hoplite was a tough and effective citizen-soldier and was fierce in the defense of his hometown. A leaf-shaped blade like the one on this sword, around the fifth century B.C., was quite popular throughout the ancient world and is based on many excavated illustrations and examples. Features include steel guard and pommel with leather-covered wooden handle. The blade is made of high-carbon steel. This is one of the best weapons of the ancient world.Includes matching wooden sheath with leather cover and brass applications.Manufactured by Windlass Steelcrafts.Note that this Gladius is not a battle-ready weapon. It is designed as a collector's piece or decoration/display and is not suitable for combat reenactment.
