Single-edged Viking sword

Single-edged Viking sword

While most Viking swords feature a double-edged blade, there are some historical examples of single-edged blades with an upturned tip. Cold Steels One Edge Viking Sword is not a literal copy of any specific historical model, but rather a montage of some of the best features of the Viking sword.

The approx. The 77 cm long blade is almost 5 cm wide and has an extra wide fuller. The blade is wider in protection and narrows toward the rising tip, and is distal tapered for speed, balance, and responsiveness.

The handle is very traditional, with modest guard and relatively short quillons. The wooden handle is covered with brown cord and ends with a heavy pommel, enhanced by copper wire and tapered to improve balance and make the sword fast and lively in the hand.

The sword was classified as Type E1 according to Petersen's Viking sword typology. This particular variant is characterized by the simple cellular ornamentation that adorns the handle: the guard and pommel were adorned with numerous round holes or pits arranged in lines and forming a somewhat checkered pattern.

The reconstruction we offer here has a straight sheet of double-edged tempered 1060 carbon steel with wide, long, unsharp edges. The engravings are reproductions of the markings found on the original blade.
The handle consists of a short, lenticular brass guard, a wooden handle tightly tied in brown leather, and a heavy, generously sized brass pommel. Here, too, the guard and pommel closely recreate the "dotted" or "bumpy" pattern of the original artifact.
Like many surviving historical examples of the time, the sword pommel is a two-part construction: the full spike of the blade is anchored to the lower section, and the pommel cap is attached to the base by means of two rivets. Both components of the pommel are visually separated by a braided wire. Between the three segments of the lid, there are also recesses encrusted with braided wire.

This one-handed sword from the early Middle Ages comes complete with a tight sheath of wood and brown leather with aged brass throat, plate and belt ironer (maximum belt width of 6 cm). Note that this medieval sword is not a weapon

Ready for battle It is designed as a collector's piece or decoration/display and is not suitable for combat re-enactment. In addition to its quality as a collectible, it is also perfectly suited as an accessory, for example, to complete your fantasy.
