Mirella Medieval Velvet Hood, Red
This velvet hood or gugel is made of 100% velvet cotton and lined with a lightweight cotton fabric. The hood ends at a long breakpoint or tail (also called a liripipe) and is cut wider around the head so it can be pulled deep into the face or bent if necessary. Closes with small round buttons to prevent the user from spoiling the hairstyle by putting it on or removing it. Usually, however, only one or two buttons were attached to the neck, or the gugel was used completely open.
This helmet with buttons can be historically attributed to the late Middle Ages and was only worn by women in this particular variant. Numerous illustrations of the time provide evidence that this type of gugel was part of everyday clothing and was often used when working or performing household chores.
In the Middle Ages and early modern period, the use of a cap was mandatory for married women. The German expression unter die Haube kommen , which literally translates as "get under the hood", is derived from this custom and is still a common language today for "getting married".
With regard to the fabric, it can be added that velvet had its origin in the 14th century Mediterranean and was predominantly woven in Italy. The complexity of the craftsmanship involved in the production of velvet clothing made them luxury items.

Cotton velvet should not be washed in the machine to avoid irreversible creases. Ironing should also be avoided at all costs, as this can crush the battery. To remove light stains, we recommend using a clothes brush to gently brush the stained area in the direction of the nap. For larger stains, it is advisable that the jacket be dry washed by a professional.

Due to the specificity of the items sold by Loja Rei das Espadas, returns are only accepted under the following circumstances:
- The product sent is damaged by proven manufacturing defect.
- The characteristics of the product sent do not correspond to those described in the Online-Store
All items are shipped in perfect condition. If you receive any damaged item and that is justified, you can return it. We will send an identical article in good condition. You can request a return by email. The customer has 14 days to return the item.
