In Germanic mythology, Fenrir is one of the three tormentors in the world, along with Hel and the Serpent Midgard Jörmungandr. All three are children of the malicious god Loki and the giant Angrboda. Fenrir fights against the existing order and finally incorporates the annihilation of the world. The gods recognize its dangerousness, chain it to a rock with a ruse and sink deep into the bottom of the earth. For the plan to work, Tyr, the god of war, even sacrifices a hand. The wolf is handcuffed for a long time, until finally, in the twilight of the gods, he breaks his chains and devours Odin. Odin's son Widar kills Fenrir, but it is too late, the Father of All Gods falls and, with him, the order of the world.

At its center, the shell features a generously sized steel protrusion that is firmly fastened in place with four rivets and leaves enough room to accommodate even the robust Viking hands. The shell edge is coated with hide (parchment) and the back is equipped with three riveted wooden reinforcing slats. The central slat also functions as a strap and is sldesigned in leather in its intermediate section for a comfortable grip.

While this medieval wooden shield may be a little too thin for full contact, it's still a great accessory for re-enactment, LARP, stage or TV/movie and will make its transformation into a proud Nordic warrior just perfect. In addition, it is also a beautiful collectible or exhibition piece for all Viking Age enthusiasts.
