Viking longsword, Peterson Type G, with leather hem
Due to its total length of 82 cm, this Viking-era sax or scramasax knife should be classified as a sword. It features a single-edged EN45 spring steel blade with a thick spine and pointed tip. The full blade spike is robustly peeled up to the pommel. A particularly wide fuller runs through the top two thirds of the blade along the column and ends just before the tip of the blade. The wooden handle has a tight bond of thin brown leather cord.
But what makes this sword of a medieval hand stand out from the crowd is the unconventional shape of its guard and steel apple. Viking Petersen type G swords are a fairly small group of rare, little-diffused swords, mainly single-edged. They are characterized by a lower guard and a top/poo protection usually equipped with conical ends that are twisted into symmetrical spirals and point away from the handle. As the findings have been scarce so far, it has been very difficult to provide reliable evidence as to the dating and distribution of this type of sword. However, based on the few surviving examples (or fragments of them), experts tend to believe that Type G swords have their origins at 9/10 c. Norway.
The long Viking seax comes with a sturdy, high-quality hem made of brown leather and features a beautiful and durable braided stitching.
Note that this Viking sword is not a battle-ready weapon, as the blade tip is not rounded. It is designed as a collector's piece or decoration/display and is not suitable for combat reenactment. In addition to its quality as a collectible, it is also perfectly suited as a prop (e.g. to complete your costume) and will make your transformation into a proud Nordic warrior perfect!

When ordering a single item, the postage has a fixed value of €30, prices only for Mainland Portugal and Islands and Peninsular Spain. You must always indicate a telephone contact number to avoid non-receipt of your order.

Due to the specificity of the items sold by Loja Rei das Espadas, returns are only accepted under the following circumstances:
- The product sent is damaged by proven manufacturing defect.
- The characteristics of the product sent do not correspond to those described in the Online-Store
All items are shipped in perfect condition. If you receive any damaged item and that is justified, you can return it. We will send an identical article in good condition. You can request a return by email. The customer has 14 days to return the item.
Returns of products subject to special, personalized or made-to-measure orders are not accepted.
