Sword of Armament of Lake Neuchâtel with Sheath, 17th century. XIII
This decorative one-hand sword is a replica of a remarkably well-preserved late 13th century. archaeological piece recovered from Lake Neuchâtel (German: Neuenburgersee), Switzerland. The original find now belongs to the collection of the Swiss National Museum (Landesmuseum) in Zurich (item IN 6982).
Classified as a Type XIV Oakeshott, the original sword has a wide blade that funnels evenly into a sharp tip to increase its impulse potential without sacrificing any of its cutting abilities. It is full on both sides about two-thirds of its length. The most notable feature of the sword is the enigmatic inscription N n SDrecorded to the maximum: Although the meaning of this sequence of letters, framed by two pattée crosses, still remains a matter of speculation, experts tend to believe that the letters represent an abbreviated prayer or invocation of God, possibly IN NOMINE SANCTI DOMINI (in the name of the Holy Lord), IN NOMINE SANCTI DEI (in the name of the Holy God), or IN NOMINE SALVATORIS DOMINI (in the name of the Savior and Lord).
The sword of a hand we offer here is a faithful reproduction of this beautiful piece of medieval history. Engravings on the widest of the two-edged EN45 spring steel blade closely replicate the markings adorning the original. The edges are not sharpened and the complete ear of the blade is riveted to the pommel. The handle consists of a slightly curved down crossguard, a thick wheel handle and a wooden handle with a tight blue leather drawstring connection. The guard and the pommel are made of solid steel.
This medieval knight sword comes complete with a wooden sheath and blue leather with two adjustable carrying straps made of black leather and fitted with aged brass buckles.
Note that this medieval sword is not a weapon ready for battle. It is designed as a collector's piece or decoration/display and is not suitable for combat reenactment. In addition to its quality as a collectible, it is also perfectly suited as prop, for example, to complete your costume, and will make your transformation into a proud knight simply perfect.

Due to the specificity of the items sold by Loja Rei das Espadas, returns are only accepted under the following circumstances:
- The product sent is damaged by proven manufacturing defect.

All items are shipped in perfect condition. If you receive any damaged item and that is justified, you can return it. We will send an identical article in good condition. You can request a return by email. The customer has 14 days to return the item.
