Aged Russian shashka, Cossack saber with bayonet
The shashka (circassian for long knife) is a saber of Caucasian origin that was adopted by the Russian military in the 19th century and eventually became the legendary weapon of the famous Cossacks. Its most characteristic feature was the handle that did not possess a conventional guard and was equipped with a distinctive downturned pommel. Due to its unique overall design, the shashka was more effective when manned on horseback and therefore perfectly suited for cavalry.
The beautiful piece we offer here is a reproduction of an original Soviet Cossack saber of the 1927 standard (M1927) manufactured in 1934 at the Zlatoust Armory, USSR. This type of NKVD shashka was still used in the ranks of the Red Army during World War II.
The EN45 single-tipped spring steel blade is sharp and has been given an aged patina to simulate signs of wear. The finely detailed apple is engraved with the initials C.C.C.P., a star and a hammer and a scythe. The pillow/collar features the markings and serial number of the original artifact in which it is modeled. The pommel and pillow are cast in brass and have received an old-fashioned finish. The striated handle is made of wood.
An approx. Includes 50 cm long bayonet for the so-called mosin-nagant repeating rifle.
This saber comes complete with a wooden sheath and brown leather. Bayonet, neck and chape brackets are made of old-fashioned brass.
Note that this sword is not a weapon ready for battle. It is designed as a collector's piece or decoration/display and is not suitable for combat reenactment. In addition to its quality as a collectible, it is also perfectly suited as support, for example to complete your fantasy.

Due to the specificity of the items sold by Loja Rei das Espadas, returns are only accepted under the following circumstances:
- The product sent is damaged by proven manufacturing defect.
- The characteristics of the product sent do not correspond to those described in the Online-Store
All items are shipped in perfect condition. If you receive any damaged item and that is justified, you can return it. We will send an identical article in good condition. You can request a return by email. The customer has 14 days to return the item.
Returns of products subject to special, personalized or made-to-measure orders are not accepted.

- We recommend sending the product by an insured carrier. We are not responsible for loss or damage caused to the product during transport.
