Hedeby Viking Sword with Scabbard, 9th C., Decorating Sword
This beautifully detailed Viking sword is a reconstruction of a finely crafted and remarkably well-preserved burial find excavated at Hedeby (also called Haithabu) and believed to have belonged to a 9th-century Danish nobleman or wealthy Viking warrior. The original archaeological piece is on display at the Viking Hedeby Museum. The Viking Age site of Hedeby, Viking's most important settlement and trade site on the Jutland peninsula (near the town of Schleswig, once in Danish territory and now in northern Germany), was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2018.
In terms of form, this one-hand sword is a classic example of a Nordic weapon used by the Vikings. It features the typical characteristics of a traditional Dark Age sword: a short guard, a straight double-edged blade with a wider wide and a crossbar with several distinct wolves.
The blade of this replica is forged in EN45 hardened steel. The edges are not sharpened and the total ear of the blade is riveted into the pommel. The wooden core handle is bound in red leather and features richly decorated brass rings at both ends. The approx. The 14 cm long, 2 cm thick guard and the generously sized five-lobe phey are cast into brass and closely recreate the highly detailed engraved motifs and patterns of the original artifact.
This ancient medieval one-hand sword comes complete with a wooden hem and red leather, with an old-fashioned and finely detailed bronze throat, plate and belt clip (maximum belt width 6 cm).
Note that this sword is not a weapon ready for battle. It is designed as a collector's piece or decoration/display and is not suitable for combat reenactment. In addition to its quality as a collectible, it is also perfectly suited as support, for example to complete your fantasy.

Due to the specificity of the items sold by Loja Rei das Espadas, returns are only accepted under the following circumstances:
- The product sent is damaged by proven manufacturing defect.
- The characteristics of the product sent do not correspond to those described in the Online-Store
All items are shipped in perfect condition. If you receive any damaged item and that is justified, you can return it. We will send an identical article in good condition. You can request a return by email. The customer has 14 days to return the item.
Returns of products subject to special, personalized or made-to-measure orders are not accepted.
