Medieval Axe

Medieval pole axe

With superior range and armor destruction force, the pole axe (also called a pollaxe) represented the great equalizer between the common infantryman and the terrifying steamroller who was the knight on horseback on the medieval battlefield. The heavy machine gun of his day, the pole axe was surprisingly skilled in hand and unstoppable.

The same attributes that made the axe so well known on the battlefields of old are still true today. Easily able to defeat modern armor with the same efficiency with which dispatched the knights of antiquity, the polar mast is a true power of performance.

Over many years of experimentation and cross-training with axes, glaives, dalls and bats from around the world and a multitude of martial cultures, Lynn C. Thompson, founder of Cold Steel, discovered the potential of the polar weapon against an entire host of opponents, even equipped with today's modern armor and tools. It has long remained a weapon that is expensive to him, so he decided to unravel his own modern interpretation of this formidable tool.

Cold Steel's steel axe is expertly forged from high-carbon 1055 steel. The extremely sharp axe blade and hard hammer head are differentially heat treated, leaving the ends of the gun hard and the body a little softer to absorb shock and impact.

The sturdy American ash handle is reinforced with black steel langettes.
