The episode of St. George and the Dragon was a legend brought back with the Crusaders and retold with the courteous accessories belonging to the genre of the novel. The oldest known representation of the legend is from the early 11th century in Cappadocia (in the iconography of the Eastern Orthodox Church, George had been portrayed as a soldier since at least the 7th century); the oldest surviving narrative text known is an 11th-century Georgian text.

En45 steel is very similar to the 9260. With good heat treatment, an excellent sword in highly resistant steel.
For this type of really heavy use, spring steels seem like the best option. The EN45 is highly recommended.
