  • The cover of the basin, also known as boiler cover or bascinet, developed in the early fourteenth century from the so-called brain cover and spread throughcentral Europe until the 15th century.

The reconstruction of a basin cover from the end of the medieval period offered here was made of 1.6 mm steel (gauge 16) and then polished. The helmet has a fully removable movable visor, which is held in position with pins and chains. The folding visor is equipped with a rectangular viewing slot about 2 to 2.5 cm wide, and the various round recesses in the lower half ensure the necessary air circulation.

The interior has a fine leather inlay attached to the helmet bowl with rivets. The 2 mm thick black leather chin strap is equipped with a steel buckle.
