Called by its barbaric civilized customs, this term came to have connotations of evil, for its wild and inhospitable nature.
In a world in which force was the law, swords were strong and powerful, a sign of authority and respect. This group of tribes and prevailed in a fragmented Europe and without a strong political organization until the beginning of the Carolingian Empire.
