This simple medieval helmet is an ideal choice for anyone looking for a high-quality, authentic, and affordable helmet. This carefully handmade kettle hat offers excellent value for money and is an ideal addition to any medieval armour.
The kettle hat or war hat owes its name to its resemblance to a pot (originally called a kettle). This rather simple helmet in the shape of a brimmed hat was especially popular between the 13th and 15th centuries. Although it was primarily worn by infantry and was not considered a typical knight's helmet, it was occasionally worn by knights under certain conditions, such as extreme heat.
While kettle hats existed in many variations, they all shared the same main feature: a wide brim. This provided effective protection against downward sword blows and projectiles fired or launched from above. At the same time, the helmet did not restrict the wearer's vision, hearing, or breathing.
This fully battle-ready reconstruction is made of 2mm steel and is modeled after late medieval originals from the 14th century. The edge of the rim is wrapped around and a pronounced central ridge runs along the top from front to back. The interior is blackened to prevent rust and equipped with a high-quality, riveted and adjustable quilted lining made of black fabric. The adjustable, pre-perforated chin strap made of soft, durable leather allows for a custom fit.
Suitable for combat reenactment, LARP, stage or TV/film, this fully wearable helmet is best suited for late medieval scenarios and is ideal for completing the armour of a European warrior. Of course, it will also be a great addition to any helmet collector's treasure chamber.
A riveted, high-class, adjustable and padded lining is included.

Due to the specificity of the items sold by Loja Rei das Espadas, returns are only accepted under the following circumstances:
- The product sent is damaged by proven manufacturing defect.
- The characteristics of the product sent do not correspond to those described in the Online-Store
All items are shipped in perfect condition. If you receive any damaged item and that is justified, you can return it. We will send an identical article in good condition. You can request a return by email. The customer has 14 days to return the item.
Returns of products subject to special, personalized or made-to-measure orders are not accepted.
